# Light-Refracting Chandeliers This Glass Chandelier Was Designed for 'Hotel Wallpaper' By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-08-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-chandelier References: [wallpaper](http://www.wallpaper.com/design/the-making-of-field-chandelier-by-john-hogan-and-lasvit-for-hotel-wallpaper-handmade-2016) & [johnhogandesigns](http://www.johnhogandesigns.com/) Known for his ability to use and manipulate glass in a way that is very creative, John Hogan was enlisted by 'Hotel Wallpaper' to create a beautiful glass chandelier. Called 'Field' the design of this lighting is unlike what normally comes to mind when thinking of the term "chandelier." Rather than featuring grandiose accents and over-the-top candles, the glass chandelier is instead simple and modern. It was created by stacking various [glass panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sklo) that are then hung from the walls, while [long lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chant) sit at the top of the chandelier. When turned on, the light is passed through the glass to create a unique, multicolored or simply bright lighting experience. With its modern design and unconventional concept, this glass chandelier stands out from the rest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 38% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modern Glass Chandeliers:** Designing glass chandeliers in modern and unconventional ways could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the lighting industry. - **Multicolored Lighting Experience:** Using glass panels to create a unique, multicolored lighting experience could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the hospitality industry. - **Light-refracting Decor:** Using light-refracting materials in decor could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the interior design industry. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting:** Innovating the design of glass chandeliers could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the lighting industry. - **Hospitality:** Innovative use of light-refracting materials in decor could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the hospitality industry. - **Interior Design:** Light-refracting materials like glass could create disruptive innovation opportunities in the interior design industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Sculptural Glass Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamar-grande-chandelier.md) - [Dynamic Artful Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-chandelier.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Metal-Glass Intuitive Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salsa-chandelier.md) - [Jewel-Inspired Chandelier Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-chandelier.md) - [Maximalist Chandelier Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baccarat-x-harry-nuriev.md) - [Leather Disc Modern Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pell-chandelier.md) - [Matte White Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2097-chandelier.md)
