Smokers look rather sad these days. If not completely abandoned to back alleys to light up, they are put in [glass cages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mei-yuan-cafe) like chimps for onlookers to laugh at.

As inventive as businesses are in accommodating their smoking customers, the designs for these zones are such eyesores--it’s no wonder smokers look humiliated in them.

These pictures are taken from [smoking zones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ash-blackwood-ashtray) in bars, airports and restaurants, and they just make me ache with pain. To all design studios: Please sort it out. [Smokers have enough to worry about](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unsmoke) besides looking like caged baboons.
