The design of the object is mid-way between a [modern sculpture and instrumental kitchen furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture). Snarkitecture's three islands are crafted with a Ceaserstone quartz surface material and their form references water in its various forms — glaciers, rivers and geysers. Snarkitecture shares that the pieces are "very material-oriented" and took this opportunity to experiment with the versatile and aesthetic-rich surfaces of Ceaserstone, as well as engage the visitors with exploring the material for themselves. A highly interactive piece of the glacier-inspired kitchen island collection is the 'Ice Island.' It is essentially a [37-layer black Ceaserstone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora), encompassing a large sphere of ice that is kept at optimum temperature, but melts when touched by visitors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Glacier-inspired Kitchen Islands:** Designing kitchen islands inspired by natural formations like glaciers, rivers, and geysers opens up opportunities for creating unique and visually stunning kitchen furniture. - **Ceaserstone Quartz Material:** Experimenting with the versatile and aesthetic-rich surfaces of Ceaserstone quartz material presents opportunities for innovative and captivating design concepts in various industries. - **Interactive Furniture Design:** Creating interactive furniture pieces, such as the 'Ice Island' kitchen island, that engage visitors through touch and temperature manipulation provides disruptive innovation opportunities for enhancing user experiences. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can explore the trend of glacier-inspired kitchen islands to offer clients unique and visually striking kitchen furniture options. - **Kitchen and Bath:** The kitchen and bath industry can capitalize on the use of Ceaserstone quartz material in innovative ways, creating countertops and furniture pieces that combine functionality and aesthetic appeal. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can adopt the concept of interactive furniture design, incorporating elements like the 'Ice Island' kitchen island to provide memorable and engaging experiences for guests. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Domestic Artful Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpted-series.md) - [Aquatic Lake Wood Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snhetta-intersection-table.md) - [Motorized Storage Kitchen Islands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/osta-insel-plus-kitchen-island.md) - [Sculptural Marble Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-frammenti.md) - [Freestanding Experimental Kitchens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-kitchens.md) - [Outdoor Carbon-Free Cooking Kitchens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transspecies-kitchen.md) - [Lake-Sourced Minimal Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intersection-table.md) - [Monochromatic Sculptural Gateways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-gateway.md)
