# Disembodied Cuddling Cushions Girlfriend Body Pillow With Lumpy Bits is for the Incredibly Lonely By Katie Cordrey | Published 2010-06-19 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/girlfriend-body-pillow References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5521307/girlfriend-body-pillow-the-saddest-place-to-lay-your-head) & [deluxecomfort](http://www.deluxecomfort.com/girlfriend-body-pillow-order.html) Lumpy, bumpy, pink and felted, the Girlfriend Body Pillow is, at the least, fuel for conversation. The partial torso has one arm to lay on and two pop-outs to simulate the female chest. The Girlfriend Body Pillow was reportedly being sold by Sears for $10, but seems to have either sold out or been taken off the market. Not to worry, it's still available at Deluxe Comfort where the pillow is described as 'recreating the contour of your loved one.' If this is the case, perhaps it is time for your loved one to seek medical help. And as a Gizmodo reader asked, "Why is it wearing a latex glove?" ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Romance](https://www.trendhunter.com/romance) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Cuddle Pillows:** There is opportunity to innovate and design more comfortable and lifelike cuddle pillows that can serve other purposes. - **Simulation Technology:** The use of programming, robots or smart technology can be applied to create more realistic and interactive simulations. - **Loneliness Relief Products:** Design new products that can help alleviate the effects of loneliness and provide comfort for individuals living alone. ### Who This Affects Most - **Retail:** The retail industry can capitalize on the trend of cuddle pillows and expand its inventory to include other innovative and realistic alternatives. - **Technology:** The use of programming, robots or smart technology can be applied in the design of new cuddle pillows that offer more features and interaction with humans. - **Healthcare:** Healthcare professionals can explore alternative ways of mitigating the negative effects of loneliness on patients, including the use of therapeutic pillows and other products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Soothing Body Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soothing-body-pillow.md) - [Curvaceous Cooling Body Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedgear-the-body-pillow.md) - [Elevated Flexible Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wiggle-pillow.md) - [Comfort-Inducing Cooling Body Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cooling-body-pillow.md) - [Man-Sized Cuddly Teddy Bears](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loving-bear-puffy.md) - [Crinkle-Cut Fry-Themed Body Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crinkle-cut-cuddler.md) - [Oversized Sandwich Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kfc-chicken-sandwich-snuggler.md) - [Comforting Pillow Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comforting-pillow.md) - [Oversized Chicken Sandwich Pillows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chicken-sandwich-snuggler.md)
