# Savanna Animal Canisters The Giraffe Sugar Basin Adds a Cutesy Quality to an Already Sweet Object By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giraffe-sugar-basin References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/49228/) & [matomeno](http://matomeno.com/10002.html) Kitchen containers are some of the most common of [kitschy domestic objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-of-tangible-spaces), but the Giraffe Sugar Basin is different. It does indeed incorporate the twee image of an animal into its form, yet the set has a softness and a minimalism about it that would have it suit even the more contemporary of culinary spaces. It begins with the simple cylindrical sugar bowl and the plain circular lid with a little notch in the side. The pair of pieces are aesthetically smooth in what appears to be a pale [ceramic material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inferno). Should its owner truly prefer a style with less detail, a single spoon can be used. But the most endearing feature of the Giraffe Sugar Basin is the [long-necked scoop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bigbilled-bird-food-concept) that renders the canister into an African creature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Animal-themed Kitchen Accessories:** Opportunity for creating unique, adorable animal-inspired kitchen containers and utensils. - **Minimalist Kitchen Design:** Potential for developing simple and sleek kitchenware with a minimalistic aesthetic. - **Culinary Space Decor:** Chance to offer decorative kitchen accessories that blend seamlessly with contemporary kitchen styles. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing modern kitchen accessories that serve as decorative pieces for home interiors. - **Kitchenware Manufacturing:** Opportunity for producing trendy and unique kitchen containers and utensils that cater to consumer preferences for cute and minimalist designs. - **E-commerce:** Potential for creating online platforms specializing in selling curated collections of stylish kitchen accessories for culinary spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dinosaur-Shaped Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawaii-ceramic-dinosaur-mug.md) - [Playful Packaging-Inspired Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strawberry-milk-vase.md) - [Modern Pet Dishes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-dog-bowl.md) - [Animalistic Ceramic Smart Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/savannah-smart-products.md) - [Adorable Kitchen Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kikkoman-x-hello-kitty.md) - [Unique Hybrid Mystery Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animal-x-vegetable-gachapon.md) - [Minimalistic Feline-Inspired Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-silhouette-vase.md) - [Animal-Themed Cleaning Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koala-sponges.md) - [Feline-Inspired Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balvi-meow-water-jug.md)
