# Tall Animalistic Lighting The Giraffe Floor Lamp by BERNHARD | BURKARD is Endearingly Large By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giraffe-floor-lamp References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/04/13/giraffe-floor-lamp-by-bernhard-burkard/) & [bernhard-burkard](http://www.bernhard-burkard.com/) The Giraffe Floor Lamp really looks like a giraffe. A steampunk giraffe, but a giraffe nonetheless. [All metal and wood parts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape), there might not be anything lively about the design, but the squat body coupled with the [long, crane-like neck](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiki-lamp) gives it a quirky personality that many will find irresistibly endearing. Designed by BERNHARD | BURKARD, a studio based in Sweden, the Giraffe Floor Lamp recently made its debut at the SaloneSatelitte 2013 in Milan furniture fair. The level or 'tail' of the lamp works a system of scissors that extends and retracts the neck to allow it to conform to any living space. Although the Giraffer Floor Lamp would make a cute addition to a home, its size is more suitable to offices and public settings. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Lighting:** Opportunity for designers to create unique lighting fixtures inspired by animals. - **Steampunk Design:** Potential for incorporating steampunk aesthetics into various products, including lamps. - **Quirky Personality in Design:** Demand for furniture and accessories that have a playful and endearing character. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Design professionals can explore animal-inspired lighting trends in their projects. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can incorporate steampunk design elements into their product lines. - **Hospitality:** Opportunity for hotels and public spaces to add unique and quirky lighting fixtures to their decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Creature-Like Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pink-robots-won.md) - [Recycled Leather Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corium-standing-floor-lamp.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Daylight-Mimicking Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brighter-floor-lamp.md) - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md) - [Sculptural Connected Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-led-floor-lamp.md) - [Bold Playful Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md)
