# Exaggerated Drain Basins The Giquadro Bowl 45 Sink Incorporates a Perimeter Plug By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-12-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giquadro-bowl-45-sink References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/005983.html) & [giquadro](http://www.giquadro.com/collection/bowl) It is extremely rare to come across a modern bath or basin without an obvious drain of some description. Usually it is found recessed in the lowest surface of the tub and defined by a metal rim and strainer. The Giquadro Bowl 45 Sink is much different, exposing no discernible hole for the emptying of water. Here the designers have opted for a much cleaner, more [sculptural and contemporary form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/faro-mixer) which actually separates the seemingly flat base of the dish from the gracefully sloping sides. It is around this elegant ring that the drain can be found, causing a captivating effect of running water over the [smooth carved granite](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/granite-group), quartz or blue stone surface. The Giquadro Bowl 45 Sink embodies a quiet quirky sophistication that brings flare to [polished washroom design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bezel-collection). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Invisible Drains:** Designers are experimenting with alternative ways to hide bathroom drain basins for a more subtle and elegant look. - **Sculptural Sinks:** New sink designs are incorporating artistic and sculptural elements, challenging traditional and practical bathroom design. - **Natural Stone Sinks:** Sinks made of granite, quartz, or blue stone are becoming more popular for their unique appeal and personalized touch. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** As designers look for creative ways to elevate bathroom design, there is an opportunity for new companies to emerge with unique and innovative products. - **Luxury Home Furnishings:** The demand for high-end, one-of-a-kind bathroom fixtures like the Giquadro Bowl 45 Sink creates openings for businesses to enter this niche market. - **Construction and Renovation:** As homeowners increasingly seek out bespoke and personalized features, there is an opportunity to offer custom natural stone sink installations and other unique bathroom design elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Artful Artisanal Marble Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handchiseled-marble-basin.md) - [Illuminated Base Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-albumelux.md) - [Marble Slab Washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin.md) - [Reinventive Modern Kitchen Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-kitchen.md) - [Dual-Use Ceramic Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luneup.md)
