# Ancient Tree Photography This Amazing Photo of a 3,200-Year-Old Giant Sequoia is Mesmerizing By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2014-04-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-sequoia References: [lostateminor](http://www.lostateminor.com/2014/03/22/3200-year-old-tree-big-never-captured-single-image-now/) & [michaelnicknichols](http://www.michaelnicknichols.com/) This giant sequoia is so awe-inspiring that it even has its own nickname, ‘The President.’ The President is one of the world’s largest trees, standing a scarcely believable 75.3 meters tall, 8.2 meters wide and measuring over a 1,000 cubic meters in volume. And here’s the kicker—it’s around 3,200-years-old, meaning it has been around for the equivalent of 110 generations of human life. The tree is so huge that it was never depicted in a [single photograph](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-minute-photos) until just recently. [National Geographic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-of-exploration) photographer Michael Nichols managed to create a photograph of the tree that was stitched together from 126 individual photos taken over a period of 32 days. The end result is a breathtaking image of one of nature’s most impressive and prized creations, a giant sequoia that continues to go strong at the ripe old age of 3,200. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Ancient Tree Preservation:** Opportunity to explore innovative methods to preserve and protect ancient trees like the 3,200-year-old giant sequoia. - **Big Data Imaging:** Potential for using advanced imaging techniques and big data processing to create an even more detailed and mesmerizing photograph of ancient trees. - **Nature Appreciation:** Growing interest in showcasing and appreciating the natural wonders of the world, such as giant sequoias, through photography and other media. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Photographers can specialize in capturing the beauty and grandeur of ancient trees, creating a niche market for nature photography. - **Environmental Conservation:** Organizations and initiatives dedicated to preserving ancient trees and their ecosystems can leverage the awe-inspiring photographs to raise awareness and support. - **Tourism:** The presence of ancient trees like the giant sequoia can attract nature enthusiasts and eco-tourists, boosting local tourism economies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Climate-Controlled Chamber Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spruce-time.md) - [Pixelated Photographed Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southern-trees.md) - [Reflective Memorial Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanctum-of-trees.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Air-Purifying Tree Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treeone.md) - [Tree-Integrated Mysterious Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-mural.md) - [Nature-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humannature-1.md) - [Time-Layered Wood Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/age-of-wood.md) - [Photographer-Honoring Stamp Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ansel-adams.md)
