# Cuddly Sci-Fi Creatures The Giant Cthulhu Plush is a Cuddlier Version of the Famous Monster By Michael Hines | Published 2013-09-24 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-cthulhu-plush References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2013/09/20/giant-cthulhu-plush-toy/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/155564069/gigantic-cthulu-green-monster-steampunk) Before you freak out, know that the Giant Cthulhu Plush isn't exactly meant to be put in a baby's room. This [giant sci-fi stuffed animal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2025-halloween-plushies) was only photographed next to a baby and its crib to show how big it truly is. It was created by Ewa Trojanowska of the [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floof-snuggle-sack-and-floor-pillow) store Kfiatek Gifted Hands. The plush weighs in at almost ten pounds and is a cuddlier version of H.P. Lovecraft's now-famous monster. In addition to being a [scary stuffed animal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears), the Giant Cthulhu Plush is also an example of awesome upcycling as it is made out of old clothes. Due to its size, Trojanowska recommends using the plush as a decorative item or piece of furniture, not a toy. It's on sale now in her Etsy store for $460.45. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Upcycling Plush Toys:** There is potential for creating more upcycled plush toys, using old clothes and discarded materials to create eco-friendly and unique products. - **Giant Stuffed Animals:** The demand for large, cuddly stuffed animals offers an opportunity for designers to create more unique designs and sizes. - **Sci-fi-inspired Plush Toys:** The popularity of Cthulhu-inspired plush toy shows a potential market for science fiction-inspired soft toys. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Toys and Games:** The toys and games industry can capitalize on the demand for large, unique and eco-friendly plush toys. - **Craft and Gift:** The craft and gift industry can create a niche by offering upcycled and custom plush toys. - **Movie and Entertainment:** Cthulhu-inspired plush toys open up market potential for more science fiction-inspired merchandise for fans of the genre. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Man-Sized Cuddly Teddy Bears](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loving-bear-puffy.md) - [Anime-Inspired Huggable Plushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-bandai-1.md) - [Transforming Sci-Fi Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillow-pets-star-wars-chewbacca.md) - [Oversized Cartoon Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pokemon-co.md) - [Plush Monster Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/labubu.md) - [Soothing Yeti Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anxiyeti.md) - [Comforting Plush Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloudheads.md) - [Dense Cuddlable Plushies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-blobfish-plushie.md) - [Sensory Plush Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mooshmoosh.md)
