# Ghostly Minimalist Keyboards The 'Ghost Keyboard' Appears to Have No Markings on the Keys By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2019-09-06 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-keyboard References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2019/09/05/the-ghost-keyboard-has-markings-on-the-front-of-the-keys-for-a-stealthy-minimal-appeal/) & [theanvilstudio](http://www.theanvilstudio.com/) The 'Ghost Keyboard' has been designed by Shaun Wellens for Render Weekly as a [minimalist peripheral](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/k2-he-keyboard) that eliminates conventional markings in favor of a more subdued aesthetic. Free of [top key markings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glyph-keyboard), the keyboard features markings on the front of the keys to let users see them only in the event that they actually need to. This could be based on the principle of muscle memory that has avid typists and programmers performing keystrokes without having to look at the keyboard. The 'Ghost Keyboard' has an [ultra-minimal design aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/function-elite-minitkl) that will be appreciated by those looking to make their workstation as stylish as possible. The design also speaks to the ubiquitous nature of technology and the potentially unnecessary functionality of markings on the devices around us. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Keyboards:** The trend towards minimalist keyboards with unique designs allows for room in the market for companies or individuals to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing options. - **Intuitive Keyboards:** The principle of muscle memory in avid typists and programmers creates opportunity for designs that break the mold of traditional keyboard layouts. - **Ubiquitous Technology:** The ubiquitous nature of technology provides ample opportunity to disrupt the market with unique designs that serve a different function than traditional products. ### Who This Affects Most - **Computer Hardware:** Hardware companies can take advantage of the trend towards minimalist keyboards to create their own models with high-end technology. - **Office Furniture:** Office furniture companies could incorporate minimalist keyboards into their designs to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of workspaces. - **Gaming Accessories:** Gaming accessory companies can explore innovative designs with intuitive, minimalist keyboards aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Semi-Translucent Halloween Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apex-pro-mini.md) - [Slim Brutalist Functional Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleaver.md) - [Sleek Workflow-Enhancing Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knob-1-keyboard.md) - [Incredibly Elegant Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-keyboard.md) - [Transparent Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lofree-1-lost-in-the-desire.md) - [Crystal Clear Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1-lost-in-desire.md) - [Minimalist Rim-Free Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharkoon-skiller-sgk20-gaming-keyboard.md) - [Metallic Brutalist Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-keyboard.md) - [Multifunctional Hidden Display Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scroom-keyboard.md)
