# Re-Imagined Boat Houses The GH3 Williams Studio Reinvents Cottage Life By Alex Scott | Published 2010-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gh3-williams-studio References: [swipelife](http://swipelife.com/2010/02/17/williams-studio-by-gh3/#more-37629) & [blueantstudio.blogspot](http://blueantstudio.blogspot.com/2010/02/williams-studio.html) I find this piece of architectural work particularly interesting as I found out it is located not ten miles from where I grew up. It doesn’t happen everyday that you stumble on a great design that just happens to be down the road from your hometown. The weird thing is I actually remember the GH3 Williams Studio being built. In any case, the GH3 Williams Studio doubles as [a home as well](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/general-assembly-1) as [art and a photography studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quadrodesign). A design like this is not common for the area, so it definitely makes an impression on passers by. It’s just nice to come across a piece of homegrown innovation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Re-imagined Boat Houses:** Innovative designs for boat houses that go beyond traditional structures and offer multiple functionalities such as homes and studios. - **Multi-functional Living Spaces:** The trend of designing spaces that serve various purposes, including living, work and art. - **Locally-inspired Architecture:** Designing buildings that take inspiration from the local culture and environment. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Architects can explore non-traditional designs for boat houses that offer versatility and multi-functionality. - **Real Estate:** Developers can offer unique living spaces to clients that serve multiple purposes. - **Art and Photography:** Artists and photographers can seek out innovative spaces to work in that inspire creativity and are functional as both a home and studio. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Boat Design-Inspired Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-mile-harbor.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Nature-Immersed Creative Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/french-creek-workhops-house.md) - [Wedge-Shaped Stealthy Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbora-vokac-taylor-architect.md) - [Scattered Boulder-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockbound.md) - [Artistic Lakeside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat.md) - [Organic Lake Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usonianinspired-lake-house.md) - [Lakeside Family Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muskoka-lakeside-cottage.md) - [Lakeside Lab Hub Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boathouse-zuka.md)
