# 90s Video Game Highlights The Gerald Green Highlights Got a Retro Video Game Makeover By Allen Taylor | Published 2014-03-26 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerald-green-highlights References: [elitedaily](http://elitedaily.com/sports/boomshakalaka-the-nba-jam-version-of-gerald-greens-highlight-reel-is-too-cool-video/) & [nba](http://www.nba.com/suns/) These Gerald Green highlights show the highflying NBA player in an outstanding performance recently against the [Oklahoma City Thunder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/game-7-apparel); it was such a great performance that it was as if he was in a video game. The [Phoenix Suns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fan-reward-program) media team decided to remix some of the nights best shots from Green in a 90s [Nintendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-adds-basketball) themed video. Classic Nintendo graphics are used to turn back the clock and show off Green’s amazing performance. An almost robotic voice screams the sayings “from downtown!” and “heating up.” Last, but not least, his massive dunk is remixed to appear as if he flies 20-feet above the net (not that far of a stretch considering his freakish talent but still very cool). It wouldn’t surprise me to see this theme catch on as it brings back nostalgia from the 90s and also makes a pretty awesome highlight video. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro Video Game Remakes:** Opportunity to create retro video game remakes featuring iconic moments or performances from various sports. - **Nostalgic Sports Highlights:** Opportunity to create highlight videos using nostalgic themes, appealing to fans' sense of nostalgia for specific eras. - **Enhanced Visual Effects:** Opportunity to enhance sports highlight videos with captivating visual effects, adding an extra layer of excitement to the viewing experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sports Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for sports entertainment companies to create engaging and nostalgia-driven content for fans. - **Gaming:** Opportunity for the gaming industry to collaborate with sports organizations to create interactive video game experiences based on iconic sports performances. - **Digital Media Production:** Opportunity for digital media production companies to specialize in creating visually stunning and nostalgia-driven sports highlight videos. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Video Game Console Sneakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-air-snes.md) - [Animated Sports Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dunk-the-halls.md) - [Sporty Retro Beer Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enjoy-it-like-its-1993.md) - [Reimagined Holiday Spots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nba-jingle-hoops.md) - [Immersive Floral Tributes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2025-nba-finals.md) - [Retro Basketball Arcade James](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nba-jam.md) - [Retro Sports Drink Revivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gatorade-3.md) - [Gaming Style Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nike-x-martine-rose-campaign.md) - [Basketball Gaming Additions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-adds-basketball.md)
