# Geometric Illusion Photography (UPDATE) The Incredible Photos by Georges Rousse Manipulate Reality By Paul Maccarone | Published 2013-09-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/georges-rousse References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/georges-rousse-photography) & [georgesrousse](http://www.georgesrousse.com/) The creative work that Georges Rousse does inside of [deserted buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-week-at-the-knees) is absolutely stunning. Rousse transforms the inside of these buildings into [colorful geometric optical illusions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical). He does it by repainting portions of them to create the surreal scenes that he captures. Aside from being completely blown away by the captivating nature of the images, the first thought that springs to mind is that the photos must be [digitally altered](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-furniture). To find out that Georges Rousse manually paints the geometric patterns within the buildings makes the art all the more stunning. Rousse explains, “The final photographic image perturbs our visual habits and convictions by presenting three kinds of space: the real space… an imaginary utopian space… and a new space that is visible from only one spot when he clicks the camera shutter, and exists only in the photo.” This type of abstract, creative thinking is exactly why these photographs are true masterpieces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Geometric Illusion Art:** The trend of creating geometric illusions in art is disrupting the traditional definition of art and challenging viewers' perception of reality. - **Manual Art Technique:** The trend of using manual art techniques like painting to create stunning visuals is disrupting the digital art industry and providing new opportunities for artists to express themselves. - **Surreal Photography:** The trend of using surreal photography to manipulate reality is disrupting the traditional standards of photography and pushing the boundaries of creativity. ### Where This Applies - **Art:** Artists in the industry can incorporate the trend of creating geometric illusions and manual art techniques to differentiate themselves and stand out in the market. - **Photography:** The trend of using surreal photography and manipulating reality can provide new opportunities for photographers to showcase their creativity and stand out in the industry. - **Interior Design:** The trend of creating geometric optical illusions in deserted buildings can inspire interior designers to incorporate optical illusions in their designs and create unique and visually stunning spaces for clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Geometric Sculpture Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Illusion-Inspired Design Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripples-collection.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md)
