The 'Solid Patterns' series was designed for [Italian marble producer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ria-coffee) Luce di Carrara and was recently unveiled at Milan Design Week 2014. The geometric marble tables are engraved with certain patterns that actually clash with the surface of the stone to create some contrast against the smooth marble from Tuscany. The new collection is made up of five pieces, which include a dining or conference table, two [low coffee tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) and two mid-sized tables. "The collection is inspired by the uniqueness of marble quarried from the depths of the Apuan Alps," say the designers. "Designing was all about expressing the various characteristics of the marble in a single form, merging mass, color, unique line patterns and circular shapes." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Geometric Marble Tables:** Explore the rise of geometric marble tables as a trend in home decor and interior design. - **Contrast in Surface Patterns:** Discover the trend of using engraved patterns to create contrast on smooth surfaces such as marble. - **Unique Form and Material Fusion:** Learn about the trend of merging mass, color, line patterns, and shapes to express the uniqueness of a material like marble. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can embrace the trend of geometric marble tables to offer unique and stylish furniture options to consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate the trend of contrast in surface patterns to create visually appealing spaces using materials like marble. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry can seize the opportunity provided by the trend of unique form and material fusion to create innovative and modern designs using materials like marble. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Steel Hybrid Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloc-studios.md) - [Geometric Table Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solis-collection.md) - [Structural Blown Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lokum-collection.md) - [Minimalist Monolithic Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taula-table-collection.md) - [Elegant Tonal Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silos-collection.md) - [Marbled Globally-Sourced Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/five-x-seven.md) - [Glass Geometry Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-collection.md) - [Marble Fragment Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miscellaneous-side-table.md) - [Versatile Travertine-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/morten-georgsen.md)
