# Minimalist Geometric Homes MA-style Architects Creates a Private Retreat in Traditional House By Meghan Young | Published 2014-12-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometric-home References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/modern-private-plywood-expansion-to-traditional-japanese-home/) & [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/architecture/ma-style-extends-a-rural-japanese-home-for-a-young-couple) The Japanese studio, mA-style Architects has created a geometric home extension that puts a modern twist on a [traditional Japanese house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duane-house). Although a great design touch, this extension is meant to be more practical than anything else. It offers a [private retreat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-ridge) for a young couple living with their extended family. Made primarily out of plywood, the geometric home extension is connected to the main house by a narrow passageway that cuts through the garden. Forming a sharp triangle, which rests above a stark white rectangle, the interior is as minimalist as the exterior. Yet its lofty V-shaped roof provides an airy space inside that is comfortable and inviting. The couple will never want to leave the geometric home extension.
