# Geographic Dishware Map Plates By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2008-11-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geographic-dishware-map-plates References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/16145/) & [whatonearthcatalog](http://www.whatonearthcatalog.com/whatonearth/Whats-New_1AA/To-Entertain_1BE/Item_Map-Plates_HG6085_ps_cti-1BE.html) This set of Map Plates ensures you and your family can practice your geography at the dinner table. Each plate is shaped like a European country and is marked with its major cities. Pushed together, the plates create an attractive map of Europe. While the product description on What on Earth imagines cooks serving up pasta on the Italy plate, sauerkraut on the Germany plate or paella on the Spain plate, I think it'd be way more fun to place these global foods on random plates for a true [cultural quiz](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guess-where-you-are-game). I could also see these Map Plates used to help differentiate the origin of artisan cheeses at a wine and cheese party. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Geographic Tableware:** Emerging trend of dinnerware designed in geographical shapes and patterns - **Educational Eating:** Growing trend of combining learning and dining experiences through tableware - **Interactive Dining:** Trend of using unique tableware designs to encourage engagement and conversation during meals ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Goods:** Opportunity for home goods companies to develop and market educational and interactive tableware - **Hospitality:** Potential for restaurants and hotels to offer unique and educational dining experiences through specialized tableware - **Event Planning:** Opportunity for event planners to incorporate unique tableware designs to enhance themed events and experiences ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Stackable Tableware Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tableware-ecosystem.md) - [Handmade Dessert Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carolina-k.md) - [Specialty Meatball Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meatball-plate.md) - [Interactive Mealtime Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platoo-interactive-sensory-meal-plate.md) - [Stackable Magnetic Dinnerwares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/full-windsor-magware-magnetic-bowls-and-plates.md) - [Coordinated Children-Focused Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tableware-bundle-for-children.md) - [Cup-Integrated Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pairingware.md) - [Colorful Enamelware Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tigress.md) - [PB&J-Inspired Sandwich Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pbj-inspired-sandwich-plates.md)
