# Scrumptious Space Station Cakes This Geeky Wedding Cake From Charm City Cakes is Sure to Please By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2013-03-20 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geeky-wedding-cake References: [whengeekswed](http://whengeekswed.com/blog/2013/03/18/dock-your-fork-in-this-gallente-space-station-cake/) & [charmcitycakes](http://www.charmcitycakes.com) A geeky wedding cake is a surefire way to make the rather traditional nuptial ceremony a little bit more fun and this space station design by Charm City Cakes is a prime example. The cake is crafted to resemble the Gallente Space Station from Eve Online, which is a popular game within the online entertainment sphere. Supported by slim suspension beams, the Gallente Space Station cake is a sheer marvel to admire and had me wondering whether or not it was actually edible (it most certainly is). Geeky wedding cakes are taking a strong precedent within the rather stuffy nuptial world because carefree individuals are looking for a simplistic way to put their own personal touch on the tradition and bakers like Charm City Cakes that create such confections help make that wish a reality. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Geeky Wedding Cakes:** The trend of unique and customized wedding cakes that reflect the couples' interests and personalities. - **Online Entertainment-inspired Cakes:** The rise of cakes inspired by popular online games and other forms of entertainment. - **Structurally Impressive Cakes:** The trend of elaborate and visually impressive cake designs, even resembling intricate architecture or engineering feats. ### Who This Affects Most - **Wedding Industry:** Opportunity for wedding planners and cake designers to offer unique wedding experiences for clients seeking personalized touches. - **Gaming Industry:** Expansion of fan merchandise and food products inspired by popular game franchises. - **Bakery Industry:** Opportunities for bakeries to specialize in creating elaborate and customized cakes, tapping into the growing demand for unique and visually impressive desserts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Space-Themed Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacethemed-dessert.md) - [Robotic Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robocake.md) - [Cheese Wheel Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowshill-cheese-wedding-cake.md) - [Wedding Pizza Promotions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-hut-6.md) - [Lobster Roll Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lobster-roll-wedding-cakes.md) - [Cardboard-Resembling Illusion Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-cake.md) - [Space-Themed Cupcake Mixes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galaxy-cupcakes-mix.md) - [Design-Centric Dynamic Artful Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-cake.md) - [All-Occasion Layered Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cake.md)
