# Astronomical Avian Abodes The Gareth Wynne Fitzpatrick Life-Sized Nest is a Flying Work of Art By Corinne Guirgis | Published 2011-06-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gareth-wynne-fitzpatrick References: [thisiscolossal](http://thisiscolossal.com/2011/06/human-bird/) & [garethwynnefitz.blogspot](http://garethwynnefitz.blogspot.com/) A work that required incredible patience, planning and detailed dedication, Gareth Wynne Fitzpatrick's newest piece is a [life-sized bird's nest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-cabin) entitled "We’ve a Man Nest." Designed as a part of the [Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mental-health-1), Fitzpatrick suspended himself from a gallery ceiling and began work on this [woven masterpiece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1). Completion of this work likely involved a great deal of manual dexterity, flexibility and vision; in other words, Fitzpatrick must have embodied birdlike characteristics to accomplish such a feat. Whatever its meaning or purpose -- and, like most abstract work of this nature, I'm not entirely sure what either of those are -- there is no denying that the completion of this project is unique and extraordinary. I just wonder whether Fitzpatrick feels that he must remain hanging there and play the bird role for the work to be complete. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Life-sized Art Installations:** Creating large-scale, immersive art experiences that captivate and engage viewers. - **Abstract Art:** Exploring meaning and purpose through non-representational forms of artistic expression. - **Creative Patience and Dedication:** Emphasizing the importance of perseverance and meticulous attention to detail in the creation of complex artworks. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Exploring innovative techniques and materials to push the boundaries of artistic expression. - **Event Planning:** Incorporating unique and visually stunning installations to create memorable experiences for attendees. - **Interior Design:** Utilizing large-scale art installations as statement pieces to enhance and transform interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Futuristic Curved Islandic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2.md) - [Greenery-Surrounding Lush Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house-1.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Floating Duck Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md) - [Sustainable Off-Grid Remote Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-sheina.md) - [Vibrant Bird-Inspired Artful Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macar-parrot.md)
