# Chicken Wire Garden Art Simple Repurposed Materials Used for Creative Expression By Shelley Sommerfeld Levis | Published 2012-08-06 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-art References: [sewanddipity](http://www.sewanddipity.com/garden-art/) Located outside of the Frank Crane sports arena in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island BC, the cute mushroom in the featured gallery makes a great piece of garden art. The blue rosettes of the Echeveria in the mushroom head play nicely with the [Blue Oat Grass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-balcony), Orange Osteospurmums, and coral geraniums, making the colors pop. The garden girl (the last three pictures in the featured gallery) was made in a similar fashion using a chicken wire form stuffed with moss for the bodice. To create the skirt, an old tomato cage and wire basket were spray painted and placed over a hardy fuchsia in the garden. Once the fuchsia starts to reach it's full size, it will spill out forming a full living, blooming dress. **Implications** - These garden sculptures are only two examples of how you can use chicken wire, moss and a little imagination to create incredible works of art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Repurposed Garden Art:** Opportunity to create unique artworks using everyday materials and nature. - **Living Garden Sculptures:** Innovation in combining flora with structure to create living works of art. - **Eco-friendly Garden Design:** Trend towards using sustainable materials and natural elements in outdoor spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Landscaping:** Opportunity to offer unique and eco-friendly garden design services incorporating living sculptures. - **Art:** Opportunity to create and sell eco-friendly and unique garden art sculptures. - **Retail:** Opportunity to market and sell DIY materials for creating repurposed garden art and living sculptures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [Giant Chicken-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heir-and-a-spare.md) - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-art-garden.md) - [Plant-Based Functional Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/good-morning-glory.md) - [Human Hair-Made Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/range-of-pots.md) - [Nature-Inspired Home Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flower-power-moss-wall-art.md) - [Experimental Pottery Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gourd-project.md)
