Inspired by [nostalgic machinery and electronics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acemagic-retro-x5), Swedish designer and craftsman Love Hultén creates this elegant and practical gaming accessory. The designer works with quality wood and metal materials that will transform and develop a patina with age. His [game console design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-arcade-pro) rejects the throw-away aesthetic of modern systems and is available in a range of different material concepts that include dark walnut, dark emerald green maple and other natural woods that have been combined with brass materials. When you are not using the R-KAID-R, the machine is [boxed up and easily stored](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/game-boy-flip-concept). When opened, the system is a usable gaming console but resembles a decorative wooden box when closed to conceal its interior elements. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro-modern Gaming Systems:** The convergence of retro aesthetics and modern technology in gaming consoles presents an opportunity for innovative designs that appeal to nostalgic gamers. - **Handcrafted Gaming Accessories:** The use of quality materials and craftsmanship in creating gaming accessories like the R-Kaid-R game console opens up avenues for premium and customizable products in the gaming industry. - **Sustainable Electronics Design:** The rejection of throw-away aesthetics in favor of durable and timeless designs in gaming consoles reflects a growing trend towards sustainability and eco-friendly consumer electronics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Gaming Console Manufacturing:** The demand for retro-modern gaming systems like R-Kaid-R creates an opportunity for manufacturers to produce innovative consoles that combine vintage appeal with modern technology. - **Woodworking and Crafts:** The handcrafted nature of R-Kaid-R game console represents an intersection of gaming and woodworking, opening up potential for collaboration and unique product offerings. - **Eco-friendly Electronics:** The trend towards sustainable electronics design in the gaming industry paves the way for manufacturers to develop environmentally friendly gaming consoles with long-lasting materials and minimal waste. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro-Inspired Handheld Game Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sup-game-box-400.md) - [Vibrant Retro Handheld Gaming](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-classic.md) - [Ultra-Compact Gamer Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-gaming-console.md) - [Freestanding Retro Gaming Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vectrex-mini.md) - [Industrial Handheld Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocketman-p1.md) - [Nostalgic Gaming Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playdate-handheld.md) - [Accessible Nostalgic Gaming Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anbernic-rg35xx-h.md) - [See-Through Cartridge Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modretro-m64.md) - [Nostalgic 90s-Inspired Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analogue-3d-funtastic.md)
