Icipio created the case, which covers the back of the iPhone and looks exactly like [Nintendo's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-game-boy-magsafe-wallet) iconic handheld gaming system. Unlike the other Nintendo iPhone offerings, the Game Boy iPhone case actually functions as a case. That's the good news; the bad news is that Incipio made it as a promo for CES 2011 and has no plans on releasing it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Retro Gaming Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop and market smartphone cases that resemble and function as iconic gaming devices from the past. - **Mobile Gaming Enhancements:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create smartphone cases that enhance the gaming experience with built-in controls and features. - **Nostalgia-inspired Tech Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and manufacture tech accessories that evoke nostalgia by mimicking iconic devices. ### Who This Affects Most - **Gaming Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invent and produce smartphone shells that transform regular smartphones into gaming devices. - **Phone Case Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop and manufacture unique phone cases that offer additional functionality for specific user needs. - **Retro Tech Gadgets:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create and market modern tech gadgets that are inspired by vintage devices like the Game Boy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Gaming Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-phone-case.md) - [Gaming-Inspired Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-3-case.md) - [Nostalgic Gamer Smartphone Wallets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-game-boy-magsafe-wallet.md) - [Retro Computer-Inspired Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classic-c1.md) - [Millennium Gamer Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-ws-m5-charging-stand.md) - [Retro Gaming Smartphone Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soolra.md) - [Nostalgic Gaming Charger Protectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-w5-silicone-cover.md) - [Projector-Equipped Handheld Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-game-boy-concept.md) - [Retro Iphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-50th-anniversary-iphone-17-pro.md)
