The building, which is mixed use commercial and residential, features [organic and flowing lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diachok-architects) that are completely free of corners on the exterior balcony sections. The organic inspiration for the GAIA building comes from its location. Quito is known as one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world, home to a lovely, temperate climate year round and nestled in between [towering mountains on all sides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-andes). The name Gaia is itself a reference to the ancient pagan deity that was believed to have created the world. The ground floor of the GAIA building is reserved for commercial space, and the next four floors are for offices. The top nine floors of the building are for residences. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Organic Architecture:** Leveraging organic and flowing lines in architectural designs to create visually appealing structures. - **Mixed-use Development:** Integrating commercial and residential spaces in the same building to promote convenience and efficiency. - **Natural Design Inspiration:** Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and elements of a specific location to inform architectural designs. ### Where This Applies - **Real Estate:** Opportunities to develop unique and visually appealing properties that cater to the needs and preferences of individuals. - **Architecture:** Innovations in designing structures that seamlessly blend with the natural environment and evoke a sense of harmony. - **Interior Design:** Creating interior spaces that compliment and enhance the organic architectural design, promoting a sense of tranquility and well-being. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Asia-Based Wooden Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaia-building-1.md) - [Organic Modern Hawaiian Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/launiu.md) - [Greenery-Filled Skyscraper Terrarium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terrarium-cheongdam.md) - [Modern Highland Residential Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-andes.md) - [Forested Residential Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-bath.md) - [Nature-Leveraging Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-caoba.md) - [Curved Green Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-island.md) - [Green Roof-Topped Circular Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earth-villa.md) - [Triangular Concrete Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mo288.md)
