Entitled ‘Period 1st tape’ these were created during Maarten Baas’ summer workshop at the Vitra design museum in France. The theme of the workshop was tape. I can’t get over how well this technique has worked. I want to try it, but doubt very much I can match this effort. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Gaffer Tape Furniture:** Exploring how gaffer tape can be used as a design element in the furniture industry. - **Tape Workshops:** Hosting workshops centered around the innovative uses of tape as a material, in the design industry. - **DIY Tape Techniques:** The rise of DIY furniture employing gaffer tape as a cost-effective alternative to traditional upholstery. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Integrating gaffer tape as a new, cost-effective design element in furniture manufacturing. - **Design:** Incorporating innovative tape techniques into material experimentation and product design. - **Education:** Educational institutions incorporating tape-based design elements into design curricula to foster creativity and explore unconventional materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bold Community-Reflected Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flap-chair.md) - [Meticulous Paper-Stacked Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paragraphic-in-four-stacks.md) - [Bungee Cord Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcord-chair.md) - [Ultra-Precise Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-design.md) - [Intricately Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [Retro Modular Vibrant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easy-chair-1.md) - [Wooden Framed Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paf-paf-chair.md)
