It differentiates from the classic external hard drives or expensive cloud-based storage as it keeps all of the contents on the hardware end of a [secure decentralized encrypted storage network system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/data-storage1). It is catered towards more [privacy centric storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/softmask) and secure resource sharing with other users. The FxBlox is designed to be a safe space to host websites or store images, videos, music, and other files. The [design is modular](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving) so that users can move the physical pieces around. It is made by industrial designer Yves Béhar’s fuseproject.
