Designer Gabriel Pimentel envisioned these futuristic urban sneakers. Titled the Vans Sim-Plis-Tech, the footwear boasts a slick silhouette and is geared for the "urban nomad." The goal of this design is to provide a stylish look for "an everyday urban environment." The brief expands on what an "urban nomad" might be for a brand like Vans and Pimentel attempted to "provide the tech aesthetic and function to an urban consumer [who] transitions between changing environments and seasons."

Inspiration for the Vans Sim-Plis-Tech stems from themes of space and modern (simple, innovative, minimal) design. To cater to the urban nomad, Pimentel made the futuristic urban sneakers to be durable, easy to clean and maintain, and adaptable to the changing climate.
