# Futuristic Smart Bikes These Futuristic Bikes Have Wheels That Light Up at Night By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futuristic-bikes References: [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1989795590/the-cyclotron-bike-revolutionary-spokeless-smart-c) & [prweb](http://www.prweb.com/releases/2016/06/prweb13518219.htm) These futuristic bikes provide a multitude of functions and feature a minimalist design. Called the 'Cyclotron,' the bikes look like something out of a science fiction movie. Described as "The Future of Cycling," the bikes are the world's first to have wheels without spokes -- instead featuring "utility slots" that can hold personal items. They have [self-charging batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-solaris) that can light them for over eight hours and their [accompanying app](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-electric-bike) notifies the user when the battery is running low. The bikes also have a "bike laser lane projector" which creates a light pathway that allows cars to steer clear of them at night. These features coupled with these futuristic bikes' tracking technologies make them both functional and unlike others on the market. These bikes are modern, highly functional and are perfect for avid cyclists or people who commute relatively short distances to work. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Futuristic Bikes:** The minimalist design and advanced features of these bikes offer disruptive innovation opportunities in the cycling industry. - **Spokeless Wheels:** The innovative wheel design of these bikes presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in wheel manufacturing and design. - **Smart Bike Technology:** The tracking technologies and app integration of these bikes can inspire disruptive innovation in the smart bike industry. ### Where This Applies - **Cycling:** The futuristic features and design of these bikes can drive disruptive innovation in the cycling industry. - **Wheel Manufacturing:** The spokeless wheel design of these bikes opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the wheel manufacturing industry. - **Smart Bike:** The advanced technology and app integration of these bikes offer disruptive innovation possibilities in the smart bike industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Futuristic E-Bike Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ebike-concept.md) - [Nighttime Limited Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nocturne-bike.md) - [Immersive Futuristic Fitness Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ex8s-connect-bike.md) - [Hubless Airless eBikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topsecret-ebike.md) - [Futuristic Single-Seater Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/future-mobility-concept.md) - [Cyberpunk Cityscape Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ayra-bike.md) - [High-Tech Carbon E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urtopia.md) - [Futuristic Solar-Powered E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stellar-landcraft.md) - [Futuristic German E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blade-one.md)
