# Cushioned Convertible Chairs The 'Buckle Up' Futon Chair Transforms into a Cushy Bed By Alexander Lam | Published 2013-08-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futon-chair References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/420602904345313293/Buckle-Up-Futon-Chair) & [freshfuton](http://www.freshfuton.com/buckle-up.html) The 'Buckle Up' futon chair disguises itself as stylish seating until you need it as a bed. Buckle Up looks like a supremely comfy spartan chair that fits in any space. However, as soon as you unroll it, it becomes a sleep-inducing mattress. Premium belts that come in either brown suede or black leather keep your modern chair together until you need to use it as a bed. Design firm Fresh created the chair to match any decor. The chairs come in a large variety of colors that you can mix and match. As a result, almost any color combination is possible when you use the Buckle Up. The futon itself is made of a cotton and polyester twill fabric blend with foam and batting on the inside to keep you cushioned and comfortable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Convertible Furniture:** Designing flexible furniture that can adapt to different use cases, like chairs that also function as comfortable beds. - **Customizable Seating:** Creating seating options that come in a wide range of colors and materials to match any decor and personal preferences. - **Multi-functional Home Accessories:** Developing versatile and practical home accessories that can perform a variety of functions, like transforming from seating to sleeping options. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunities exist in the furniture manufacturing industry to design and produce multi-functional, customizable furniture pieces that cater to modern consumers' needs for flexible and space-saving solutions. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can benefit from sourcing and recommending versatile and aesthetically pleasing home accessories that can accommodate clients' varying needs and preferences. - **E-commerce:** In the e-commerce industry, there is an opportunity to market and sell innovative, multi-functional home accessories to consumers who prioritize practicality, style, and convenience in their purchases. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Adventurous Versatile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat.md) - [Space-Saving Convertible Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coddle-luke-sleeper-sofa.md) - [Expanding Three-in-One Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expandy.md) - [Two-In-One Neck Pillows Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neck-pillow-lounge.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Sleep-Inclusive Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eclipse-capsule.md) - [Modular Eco-Sourced Cozy Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-couch.md) - [Lounge Chair Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bagletti-suitcase.md) - [Versatile Modular Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformer-couch-20.md)
