# Furry Monster Seating Designer Jason Goh Makes a Monster Out of Any Living Room By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-01-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furry-monster References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2013/01/22/Monster-Chair/) & [io9](http://io9.com/5978023/well-take-one-monster-chair-please) This furry monster of a chair will make any living room fluffier. The insanely comfortable looking [ball of seating fluff](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillowsac-chair-jr) was designed by Jason Goh, who was inspired for the design by tales his grandmother used to tell him. Apparently, his grandmother would tell him that a furry monster would come and eat him up if he didn't stop playing with his food. These tales are helpfully illustrated in Goh's comic strip he drew to help promote the chair design. As for the chair itself, it looks like the [most comfortable and cozy chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge-by-layer) ever produced. It's big enough that children and even smaller adults can fully fit inside. The chair is also bottom-weighted to ensure it doesn't roll around. A clever-placed tongue ensures that the [furry monster chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aifunghi) can more effectively eat its prey, or comfortably allow the user to relax. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Furry Seating:** Designing comfortable and creative seating options with a furry element for homes and offices. - **Bottom-weighted Furniture:** Creating furniture pieces that are bottom-weighted for enhanced stability and safety for users. - **Comic-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture pieces inspired by characters from comic and graphic novels. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Innovative seating and furniture design for home and office spaces. - **Interior Design:** Creative and unique furniture and decor for interior designers. - **Children's Furniture:** Furniture with playful and comfortable designs suitable for children and playful adults. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Cozy Oversized Cushion Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Sea Creature-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seat-urchin.md) - [Fuzzy Modern Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fuzzy-modern-chair.md) - [Oversized Hollow Pillow Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floof-snuggle-sack-and-floor-pillow.md) - [Deco-Inspired Chunky Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mt-curve-big-chair.md) - [Pet Bed-Equipped Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharing-joy-armchair.md) - [Minimalist Comfort-Focused Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mondo-chair.md)
