Appropriately titled 'Scratch,' the furniture collection includes a dining room table, a set of benches and a ladder that is said to resemble Delft Blue Pottery designs. The pieces themselves are fairly simple and minimalist in structure, but the [quirky and intricate paint job](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bidri-furniture) is what gives this collection an interesting look that is hardly dull. The busy pattern is still subtle enough so as not to detract from the rest of the room, but the [royal blue hue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiptoe-x-klein-blue) is a striking decor element. Basic home furnishings get a facelift with the Joost & Kiki scratch furniture painting technique. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Specialized Furniture Painting:** Incorporating unique and intricate paint techniques into home decor offers opportunities for creative customization. - **Quirky Minimalist Design:** Combining simple structures with eccentric paint jobs creates a visually interesting aesthetic that stands out in a room. - **Revamped Home Furnishings:** Giving basic furniture pieces a facelift through innovative painting techniques brings new life to traditional home decor. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize specialized painting techniques to offer clients unique and personalized home decor options. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore incorporating innovative paint techniques into their product lines to create visually captivating furniture pieces. - **Home Decorating Retail:** Home decor retailers can highlight and promote furniture collections that feature quirky minimalist design and specialized painting techniques. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Textured Pine Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crayon-pine.md) - [Expressive Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bells-whistles.md) - [Realistic Sketch-Reflective Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-series.md) - [Self-Designed Exhibition Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiki-joost.md) - [Sustainable Recycled Paper Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-screws-no-glue.md) - [Manipulated Wood Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snickeriet.md) - [Customization-Friendly Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spray-furniture.md) - [Tile-Clad Colorful Blocky Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reglow.md)
