For the upcoming [romantic holiday](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hershey-valentines-day), she created three different cards. From the outside, each looks like a traditional love-themed card, however once one opens them up, a cynical message that reminds them of their singlehood is revealed. For example, one of the funny Valentine's Day cards has a bright pink heart on the outside with an arrow pointing to it and the words "You Are Here..." written underneath. Inside, "In the friendzone" is written. Another features a [rose on the front](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deliveroo-new-arrangements-collection) and the words "Roses are red violets are blue." The inside however takes a turn, with the words "the only prick in my life, is definitely you" completing the poem. With their cynical messages, Emily Strefford-Johnson's funny Valentine's Day cards are perfect for friends who are able to laugh at themselves a little. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cynical Valentine's Day Cards:** The trend of creating Valentine's Day cards with cynical messages inside provides an opportunity for designers to offer a humorous alternative to traditional romantic cards. - **Humorous Singlehood Messages:** The trend of incorporating funny and cynical messages about being single in Valentine's Day cards opens up a market for cards that cater to individuals who can find humor in their relationship status. - **Alternative Love-themed Cards:** The trend of designing Valentine's Day cards that challenge traditional romantic sentiments gives creators the opportunity to offer unique and unexpected expressions of love. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Graphic Design:** The graphic design industry can capitalize on the trend of creating cynical Valentine's Day cards by producing innovative designs that add humor and wit to the holiday. - **Stationery:** The stationery industry can tap into the market for funny and cynical Valentine's Day cards by producing cards that provide an alternative perspective on love and relationships. - **Greeting Cards:** The greeting card industry can embrace the trend of alternative love-themed cards by offering a wider range of options that cater to diverse relationship dynamics and sentiments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Practical Valentine’s Day Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/valentines-card-bath-bar.md) - [AI-Powered Valentine's Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resn.md) - [Inclusive Valentine's Day Gifts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hallmark-valentines-day.md) - [Valentine's Beef Jerky Hearts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meathearts.md) - [Educational Valentine's Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/language-of-love.md) - [Valentine's-Inspired Sneakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/valentines-day-2025-sneakers.md) - [Playful Valentine's Day Gifts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clever-candy-2024-valentines-day-collection.md) - [Love-Inspired Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/how-to-say-i-love-you-around-the-world.md) - [Anti-Valentine's Dinner Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sour-hearts-social-club.md)
