# Dismembered Dolls for Walls Creepy DIY Coat Rack By Howard Wu | Published 2008-08-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/functional-dismemberment-diy-coat-rack References: [designspongeonline](http://www.designspongeonline.com/2008/04/diy-project-natashas-babydoll-coat-rack.html) My first impression of this craft, was that it was some relic of Chucky from the child’s play horror movies. This creepy do-it-yourself project is quite disturbing, and not the least bit cute. The best part about it is its value as a gag gift or [Hallowe’en prop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/michaels-alices-adventures-collection). Natasha’s Coat Rack, as pictured here, is featured on [http://www.designspongeonline.com](http://www.designspongeonline.com), with comprehensive instructions. On a functional note, the irregular shaped [coat hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-hanger) do not appear to hinder the hanging process. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **DIY Creepy Home Decor:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating DIY home decor that is intentionally creepy and disturbing. - **Gag Gifts and Halloween Props:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating new and unique gag gifts and Halloween props, using unconventional materials and ideas. - **Irregular Shaped Coat Hooks:** There is an opportunity for disruption in the market of coat hooks by introducing irregular and unique shaped hooks, without hindering their functionality. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Crafts and DIY:** The crafts and DIY industry can benefit from creating kits or tutorials that focus on creating creepy home decor or gag gifts. - **Halloween and Party Supplies:** The Halloween and party supplies industry can benefit from introducing new and unique props, like the dismembered doll coat rack, to their product line. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can benefit from introducing irregular shaped coat hooks that are both functional and aesthetically interesting to consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Creepy Severed Hand Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wednesday-thing.md) - [Charming Creepy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears.md) - [Fashionable Zombie Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zombaes-critter-chaos.md) - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Mythological Two-Piece Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corazon-marikit-doll.md) - [Quirky Structural Clothes Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hang-we.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md)
