# In-Home Tree Houses This Brooklyn Artist Built a Full-Sized Tree House in Her Loft By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-02-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fullsized-treehouse References: [fastcoexist](http://www.fastcoexist.com/3025371/why-this-artist-built-a-treehouse-in-her-brooklyn-loft?partner=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:) & [fastcompany](http://www.fastcompany.com/person/terry-chiao) Turns out it actually is possible to have a home inside of your home if you make a full-sized tree house inside it. This artist took her [Brooklyn loft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklyn-loft) and turned into two separate homes by creating a simple but effective tree house. Brooklyn is very short on green space as is much of New York but artist Terry Chiao didn't let that get her down and brought the great outdoors indoors. The full-sized tree house isn't particularly large but given the fact that it's built inside an apartment, this was to be expected. The cabin is just large enough to fit a full-sized bed, night stand and a suitcase. Terry used to rent the cabin to travelers so the space is more than enough for a short-lived stay over. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **In-home Tree Houses:** Opportunity for interior design and architecture professionals to create unique in-home tree house concepts. - **Green Living Spaces:** Potential for sustainable housing and eco-friendly living solutions, incorporating nature into urban environments. - **Micro-accommodations:** Emerging trend of compact, functional living spaces that maximize limited square footage, such as in-home tree houses. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior design firms to offer innovative solutions for incorporating tree houses into home interiors. - **Architecture:** Disruptive potential for architects to design sustainable housing solutions that integrate with nature, in urban settings like Brooklyn. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Unique opportunities for hotels and accommodations to incorporate tree house concepts, offering guests a nature-infused experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Treehouse Writing Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetta-tessino.md) - [Solar Powered Luxe Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-baltic.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Light Filled Tiny Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/into-the-woods-1.md) - [Nature Blending Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-tower-one.md) - [Book-Filled Mezzanine Lofts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumbo-loft.md)
