Dubbed the 'Vanity Chair,' this piece of furniture is yet another contemporary venture into the heavily asymmetric world of the [art deco movement](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tugendhat-chair). However, Vako Designs also undertakes a Memphis Modern approach that compliments the juxtaposing inspiration. The result is a furniture jewel that is comfortable, fashion-forward and [sculptural](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amia). It will, without a doubt, have a style-elevating presence in the modern home interior arrangement. For the base of the purple and fuchsia chair, Vako Design uses wood, while the "geometric volumes are covered in velvet" for a soft and luxurious feel. The piece was debuted during the 2019 Interior Design Show in Toronto. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Art Deco Furniture:** Opportunity for designers to create attention-captivating and fashion-forward furniture pieces inspired by the art deco movement. - **Asymmetric Designs:** Potential for innovative furniture designs that embrace asymmetry and create unique and visually interesting silhouettes. - **Memphis Modern Style:** Chance for designers to explore the juxtaposition of inspirations and create furniture pieces that combine elements of art deco and Memphis Modern styles. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in the furniture industry by creating modern and attention-captivating chair designs that incorporate unique materials and color schemes. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate art deco-inspired furniture pieces with attention-captivating silhouettes into modern home interior arrangements, elevating the style of the space. - **Luxury Home Decor:** Innovative luxury home decor brands can capitalize on the art deco and Memphis Modern inspirations to create fashion-forward and sculptural furniture pieces that add a distinctive touch to modern interiors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Reimagined Colorful Chair Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stedelijk-chair.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Flamboyant Vintage-Inspired Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quiltana-armchair.md) - [Post-Modern Experimental Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experiment-chair.md) - [Limited Edition Artful Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dezza-armchair.md) - [Quirky Postmodern Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ebba-armchair.md) - [Cozy Flower-Like Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beba-armchair.md) - [Boldly Colorful Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popo-chair.md)
