# Fruit-Inspired Furniture Rocking Banana Sofa for Saloni 2009 By Elsa Blaine | Published 2009-01-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fruit-inspired-furniture-rocking-banana-sofa-for-saloni-2009 References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/banana-rocking-sofa/) & [andrejstatskij.jimdo](http://andrejstatskij.jimdo.com/furniture_design.php) This big golden banana sofa has integrated workings that create a gentle rocking motion. The fun couch was materialized by Lithuania-born designer Andrej Statskij for the Saloni 2009 furniture fair. I have to admit the piece looks rather comfy, but the yellow color may not be my favorite. I think the same sofa in black would look much less like a banana and easily fit into a modern décor--but what fun would that be? The other samples here are contemporary concepts also designed by Statskij, an architect and industrial designer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Fruit-inspired Furniture:** Opportunities for designers to create more functional and unconventional furniture inspired by fruit. - **Integrated Movement Furniture:** Innovative furniture designs that incorporate rocking and other movements to enhance comfort. - **Modern and Whimsical Design:** Furniture designs that incorporate playful elements into modern decor. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Opportunities for furniture designers to create innovative and modern designs. - **Home Decor:** Whimsical and modern furniture designs that can easily integrate into home decor. - **Industrial Design:** Incorporation of movement into furniture designs can open up new opportunities in industrial design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fruit-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fruitinspired-furniture-collection.md) - [Fruit-Inspired Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-stool.md) - [Fruit-Inspired Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-lamp.md) - [Extremely Luxurious Curved Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-yellow-sofa.md) - [Modular Butter-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/butter-sofa.md) - [Sandwich-Inspired Sofa Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burger-sofa.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Laidback Modular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natuzzi-bao.md)
