In January, an exhibition with fruit and vegetable art is opening at the [Whitney Museum of American Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maisonmuse) called Fruits, Vegetables; Fruit and Vegetable Salad that presents pieces of fruits on pedestals. Once ripe, the fruits and vegetables will be appropriately prepared by museum staff and turned into a salad for visitors to enjoy. The installation is then replenished with new pieces of produce and the [edible art experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mischief-by-chester) is recreated.

Unless a piece of art is interactive, it's generally accepted that people are not supposed to touch an artist's creations—which is why headlines were made at this year's Art Basel Miami Beach when performance artist David Datuna ate Maurizio Cattelan's conceptual [art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble). The piece valued at $120,000 called Comedian consisted of a real banana duct-taped to a wall.
