# Beer Storage Pyramids The Fridge Monkey Tray is Inspired by War Ships By Meghan Young | Published 2010-07-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fridge-monkey References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/07/07/beer-pyramid/) & [modestudio](http://www.modestudio.co.uk/) The Fridge Monkey is a simple rubber tray that safely and compactly stores bottled and canned drinks in the fridge. According to [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture), the Fridge Monkey is inspired by the brass monkey used on ships to stack cannonballs. Essentially, this item uses the bottles themselves as a storage unit. By cleverly stacking drinks on top of one another, the Fridge Monkey will not only help users organize their refrigerator, but also add a little character to it as well. Kudos to designers Kevin Champion and Duncan Taylor from Mode Product Design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Compact Fridge Storage:** Opportunities exist to design compact storage solutions for small refrigerators, ensuring maximum use of space. - **Lightweight Material Innovation:** Lightweight and flexible materials can revolutionize refrigerator design by offering adaptable and convenient storage solutions. - **Household Organization Tools:** Creating multi-purpose organization tools for households helps individuals manage their living spaces more effectively and efficiently. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Household Goods:** The household goods industry can explore product innovation opportunities in designing organizing tools for smaller spaces. - **Food and Beverage:** Food and beverage companies can explore alternative packaging solutions that can be used as storage units to save space and improve convenience for customers. - **Materials Manufacturing:** Materials manufacturing companies can explore innovative new materials that are lightweight, durable and flexible to help create adaptable storage solutions for households. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Connected Drink Fridges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocco-super-smart-fridge.md) - [Freezer-Friendly Six-Pack Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beer-can-holder.md) - [Hassle-Free Container Drink Dispensers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automatic-drink-dispenser.md) - [Cooling Beer Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beercubes1.md) - [Charitable Anti-Food Waste Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-stackers.md) - [Suitcase-Style Mini Fridge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-mini-fridge.md) - [Rotating Food Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saveit.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Gaming-Influenced Beer Fridges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-fridge.md)
