# Illuminating Six Strings The Fretlight Guitar Lights Up to Teach You How to Play By Sarah Moore | Published 2012-06-22 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fretlight-guitar References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/fretlight-led-guitar-tuition-system/23048/) & [fretlight](http://www.fretlight.com/) While it doesn't guarantee that you'll be shredding solos like Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix, the Fretlight guitar will help you to learn at least a few notes and chords. Designed with a super thin LED panel integrated into the fretboard, the techy six string lights up to show you what string you need to hit to play a certain note or what combination of strings you need to play to make a particular chord. The fretlight system has been incorporated into 5 different designs that are modeled after the classic [Fender](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fender-x-loog-collection-for-kids) body. The system uses both video and computer software to trigger the lights and helps [budding musicians to practice scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notewize-guitar-lessons), chord progressions and eventually, to learn full songs. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Learning Tools:** Developing interactive tools that use technology to enhance learning, such as the Fretlight guitar's LED panel that lights up to teach how to play. - **Guitar Education Technology:** Advancements in technology that specifically cater to guitar education, like the Fretlight guitar's integration of LED lights and computer software. - **Virtual Music Lessons:** The rise of virtual music lessons that utilize innovative tools like the Fretlight guitar's LED panel to provide interactive and visual learning experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Education:** The music education industry can capitalize on innovations like the Fretlight guitar to provide more engaging and effective learning experiences for aspiring musicians. - **Music Technology:** Innovations in music technology, such as the Fretlight guitar, present opportunities for companies to create and market new products that enhance the learning and playing experience for guitarists. - **Online Learning:** The online learning industry can explore incorporating interactive tools like the Fretlight guitar to offer more immersive and practical music education to learners worldwide. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digitized Guitar Learning Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-guitar-tutor.md) - [Button-Activated Guitar Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockdreamer-guitarbar.md) - [All-Inclusive Guitar Learning Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar-learning-system.md) - [Children-Forward Guitar Companies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smallscale-electric-guitars.md) - [Beginner-Friendly Guitar Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fender-x-loog-collection-for-kids.md) - [Braille-Covered Electric Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitar-guitar.md) - [Electronic String Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmoni.md) - [Carbon Fiber Smart Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lava-me-3.md) - [Playful Music Collabs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loog-x-hello-kitty.md)
