A group of San Francisco-based skaters created the board because they felt to restricted with the movement of a regular skateboard. The Freebord acts more like a skateboard in the fact that it makes more fluid movements and it doesn't stick to a strict vertical line of travel. The [six-wheeled skateboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-skateboard-design) is fitted with central axis wheels that turn in every direction imaginable, so that the rider can mimic snowboarder moves: riding side-to-side, riding backwards and getting airborne for an extended period of time in comparison to skateboard tricks. Also like a snowboard, the Freebord is equipped with a pair of S2 bindings, which help keep the board attached to the rider's feet. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Revolutionary Skateboarding:** The Freebord skateboard revolutionizes the skateboarding industry by allowing for more fluid movements and mimicking snowboarding moves. - **Snowboarding Simulation:** The Freebord skateboard trend allows snowboarders to continue their passion even when the snow melts, creating a market for winter sport enthusiasts in the off-season. - **Innovative Skateboard Technology:** The Freebord skateboard highlights the potential for innovation in skateboard design, leading to further advancements in the industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Skateboarding:** The Freebord skateboard disrupts the traditional skateboarding industry and creates opportunities for new product development and design. - **Winter Sports:** The Freebord skateboard opens up the winter sports market to skateboarders, creating a new market for winter sport equipment and gear. - **Technology:** The Freebord skateboard showcases the potential for technological advancements in the skateboarding industry, leading to innovative product development and new technologies being applied in other industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intuitive Remote-Free Electric Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-skateboard.md) - [Hybridized Electric Longboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybridized-electric-longboards.md) - [Onewheel Off-Road Board](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/offroad-board.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Electric Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bustin-boards-skatex.md) - [Rotating Snowboard Binders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackline-quicksett-v2.md) - [All-Terrain Electric Skateboard Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twowheel-electric-board.md) - [Bluetooth-Operated Motorized Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-electric-skateboard.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Flexible Electric Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ff-belt.md)
