One tomato plant can supply ten to twenty pounds of tomatoes -- perfect for the [urban garden](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/local-food-support). Busch was inspired to offer the seeds by stories he heard about his great grandparents handing out [free tomatoes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/feeding-americas-mission) during the Great Depression. The owner or 2BSeeds figures he can ease this century's Great Recession in the same way. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Heirloom Seeds Distribution:** Offering heirloom seeds for free to the unemployed and those who need to supplement their food budget presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the agricultural sector. - **Urban Gardening:** Providing a solution for people to grow their own produce at home presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home gardening and DIY industries. - **Social Responsibility:** Taking measures to address societal problems through business practices presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the corporate social responsibility space. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Agriculture:** The distribution of free heirloom seeds presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in sustainable agriculture. - **Home Gardening:** Providing resources for home gardening presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home gardening and DIY industries. - **Corporate Social Responsibility:** Addressing societal problems through business practices presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the corporate social responsibility space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Robot Tomato Harvesters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/syngeta-vegetable-seeds.md) - [Heirloom Tomato Soup Samplers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heirloom-tomato-soup.md) - [Ultra-Red Sweet Tomatoes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/windset-farms-1.md) - [Democratizing Cannabis Production-Focused Programs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rare-breeds.md) - [Exclusive Employee Farms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourteen-acres-farm.md) - [Unconventional Gardening Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freaky-veg-kit.md) - [Kindness-Promoting Flower Sharing Initiatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flower-sharing.md) - [Cannabis Seed Giveaways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cannabis-seeds.md) - [Flavor-Packed Tomato Varieties](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubi.md)
