# Fashionable Framed Living Marc Boutin Architectural Collective's Frame House is a Home in a Box By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-01-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-house References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/01/25/frame-house-by-the-marc-boutin-architectural-collaborative/) & [the-mbac](http://www.the-mbac.ca/) The Marc Boutin Architectural Collaborative designed the [Frame House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-house-1) in Invermere, Canada. From a distance, the home appears deceptively small. Once you get up to it, however, it is truly a [mansion in the middle of nowhere](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robert-chisholm-architects). The design of the Frame House is also deceptively simple. It’s pretty much a giant box, and doesn’t look much more complicated until you examine the interior. Large open spaces are plentiful, but private rooms are also available in a smaller enclosed box within the larger box of the Frame House. The Frame House was photographed by Bruce Edward. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modular Homes:** There is a trend towards modular homes that offer convenience and flexibility in design and construction. - **Minimalist Architecture:** Minimalist architecture is gaining popularity for its clean and simple aesthetic, as showcased by the Frame House design. - **Open Concept Living:** The Frame House exemplifies the growing trend of open concept living spaces that prioritize natural light and spaciousness. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Construction:** The construction industry can embrace modular homes as an opportunity to streamline the building process and satisfy clients' desire for customization. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore minimalist design principles to create innovative and visually striking structures like the Frame House. - **Real Estate:** Real estate professionals can cater to the demand for open concept living by promoting properties that feature flexible floor plans and abundant natural light. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gabled Forest-Side Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-house-1.md) - [Geometric Red-Brick Suburban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ofis-arhitekti.md) - [Square Structural Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canvas-house.md) - [Concrete Brutalist Hilltop Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pedro-domingos-arquitectos.md) - [Modern A-Frame Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-caroline.md) - [A-Frame Forest Tranquil Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prez-palacios-arquitectos-asociados.md) - [Rustic Striking A-Framed Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jack-morgan.md) - [Tranquil A‑Frame Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-a-frame.md) - [Black-Metal Angled Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadow-box-house.md)
