This four-story residence, dubbed Hem House, features windows that are placed at irregular levels in order to maximize the amount of natural light. The windows are also sheathed in a special steel mesh that is strong enough and covers enough space to provide security while also allowing for breeze and cross-ventilation. Perhaps the highlight feature of this residence is its hidden rooftop garden, which offers a place for relaxation amid the hustle and bustle of the city. This intelligently designed four-story residence speaks to the ability of smart architecture to get around restrictions of space, something which is important in increasingly crowded urban settlements. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Maximized Natural Light:** Maximizing natural light through windows at irregular levels presents an opportunity for architects to create energy-efficient and well-lit spaces in narrow urban environments. - **Steel Mesh Security:** The use of special steel mesh on windows provides an innovative solution for combining security and airflow in urban residences. - **Hidden Rooftop Gardens:** The integration of hidden rooftop gardens into urban architecture allows for a peaceful and green retreat in bustling city settings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Innovations in intelligent architecture techniques can enhance space utilization and create more sustainable and comfortable living spaces in urban environments. - **Construction:** The incorporation of steel mesh and other innovative materials in construction offers new possibilities for creating secure and well-ventilated urban residences. - **Urban Planning:** The idea of hidden rooftop gardens can inspire urban planners to incorporate more green spaces into cities, promoting urban biodiversity and improving quality of life. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Light-Filled City Center Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-garden-2.md) - [Green Garden-Surrounding Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillside-house-1.md) - [Geometric Cave-Like Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-homes.md) - [Oversized Roof Vietnamese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-quang-yen.md) - [Greenery-Surrounding Lush Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house-1.md) - [Garden-Focused Victorian Terrace House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helvetia.md) - [Plant-Covered Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-kd45.md) - [Garden Oasis Renovated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-garden-house.md) - [Modern Vietnamese Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tien-giang-house.md)
