# Mod Oval Lighting Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) by Mikhail Belyaev is Ethereal By Meghan Young | Published 2012-10-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fosterlamp-spheroidogurtsoid References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/10/16/lamp-envy/) & [mikhailbelyaev](http://www.mikhailbelyaev.com/) The Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) light is [minimally modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20) and futuristically space age. Its simple silhouette takes on the shape of a long oval. Fixed to a wooden base, it glows ethereally as though Tinkerbell or some other pixie resides inside. Nevertheless, it is the [frosted glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa) that gives the Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) light a magical aesthetic. Created by Mikhail Belyaev, a young multidisciplinary designer based in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) light may seem phallic to some (especially when paired with a naked woman), but it has a [balloon-like quality](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light) as well. Either way, the Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) light is a playful creation that will brighten up any living space. The Fosterlamp (Spheroid/Ogurtsoid) light recently made its debut during the Moscow Design Week 2012. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Minimalist Lighting:** There is an opportunity to create modern, minimalist lighting designs that still evoke a sense of magic and playfulness. - **Futuristic Silhouettes:** Designers can explore the use of futuristic silhouettes to create unique lighting designs with a space-age aesthetic. - **Multidisciplinary Design:** The intersection of different design fields could lead to the creation of innovative lighting designs with unexpected aesthetics. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can explore new shapes and materials to create playful and modern lighting designs. - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can incorporate unique lighting designs into their furniture pieces to add an extra layer of functionality and aesthetic appeal. - **Interior Design:** Integrating playful and modern lighting designs into interior design could lead to the creation of unique and memorable living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Mysterious Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auge-light-mini.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Ambient Aesthetically Pleasing Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pofu.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md)
