I mean, how much more poetic could I get by eating a fortune cookie on my Fortune Cookie Stool? Of course, there is another, more practical reason as to why I want this particular fate-inspired piece of furniture -- it is simple, organic and [sculptural](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture). The Fortune Cookie Stool would add artistic flair to any home as well as elegance with a touch of humor. Designed by Po Shun Leong for Tendo Furniture Design Concours in Japan, the Fortune Cookie Stool was also inspired by Yanagi's Butterfly Stool. Made from a [single piece of flat plywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noah-folding-stool), Leong first experimented with folding paper to create a 3D shape. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fortune Cookie Furniture:** Furniture designers can create furniture pieces inspired by Asian symbols and references, such as fortune cookies, incorporating a playful, yet elegant touch. - **Organic Furniture Design:** Designers can successfully develop sculptural and organic furniture pieces that bring a fresh and unique look to homes, accentuating elegance. - **Minimalist Furniture:** The beauty of simplicity continues to rise, with designers making creations even more minimalistic.
