# Cabinet-Like Workstations Forming the Border Desk by Juhui Cho Conceals Messes, Promotes Privacy By Meghan Young | Published 2013-08-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forming-the-border-desk References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/forming-the-border-desk-by-juhui-cho/) Aptly titled, the Forming the Border Desk certainly does form a clear border between work and home life. For those who work out of their home, this could be a very important distinction. Yet no matter how important, it is also a hard one to balance. This piece of furniture makes it much easier. Designed by Juhui Cho, the Forming the Border Desk takes on a [cabinet-like look](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet). When opened, in place of shelves and knick knacks, it is a [full-blown workstation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mespace-workstation). When closed, however, it is a clean and simple cupboard. What makes the design even more practical is the fact that when open, it forms a sort of [privacy bubble](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calm-collection) as well for better concentration. Made out of a wooden frame and PCV paneling, the Forming the Border Desk is genius. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Cabinet-like Workstations:** The trend of cabinet-like workstations provides a practical solution for separating work and home life in a home office setup. - **Privacy-enhancing Furniture:** The rise of privacy-enhancing furniture, like the Forming the Border Desk, offers opportunities for creating a more focused and concentrated work environment. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** The demand for multi-functional furniture, such as the Forming the Border Desk, allows for efficient use of space in home offices. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can capitalize on the trend of cabinet-like workstations by designing and producing innovative furniture pieces that cater to the needs of remote workers. - **Home Office Solutions:** The home office solutions industry can tap into the market demand for privacy-enhancing furniture by developing and marketing products that promote concentration and focus during remote work. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can explore the market potential of multi-functional furniture by incorporating versatile and space-saving designs, like the Forming the Border Desk, into their projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Elegant Working Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindset-builtin-computer-desk.md) - [Single-Piece Construction Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nook-desk.md) - [Multifunctional Standing Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boundary-desk-1.md) - [Soft-Sided Cocoon Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddyhub-desk.md) - [Fold-Out WFH Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/writing-bureau.md) - [Folding Multifunctional Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignite-desk.md) - [Fold-Down Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workspace-furniture-solution.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md)
