# Stadium-Inspired Furniture The Football Table by Oscar & Ewan is Sporty and Masculine By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/football-table References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/oscar-ewan-football-table) & [oscarandewan](http://www.oscarandewan.co.uk/) There is a reason why the [Football Table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xian-international-football) looks more like a piece of art than a piece of furniture. It was created for the Art of Football exhibit. Commissioned by [Nike](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fc-25) and SHOWstudio, the Football Table takes on the form of a miniature football stadium. Instead of being tacky or perhaps even cartoonish, it is a sophisticated creation steeped in masculinity from the inspiration behind the design to the dark wood used to make it. Created by Oscar & Ewan, a design studio based in London and Stockholm, the Football Table features the use of waterjet cutting. With each cut, the layers are lowered one at a time until the field is reached. To finish it off, a [Anglepoise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/type-75) lamp was used to mimic stadium floodlighting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Stadium-inspired Furniture:** Using stadium designs as inspiration for home furniture products. - **Waterjet Cutting in Furniture:** Using waterjet cutting technology to create intricate designs in furniture. - **Mimicking Stadium Elements in Home Design:** Incorporating elements of stadium design into home decor and furniture. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** Creating unique and artful furniture designs that are inspired by external elements such as stadiums. - **Technology:** Developing and utilizing advanced technology like waterjet cutting to expand design possibilities in the furniture industry. - **Home Decor:** Integrating elements of stadium design into home decor products to cater to sports enthusiasts and masculine home aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Encapsulated Soccer Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-football-game.md) - [Limited-Edition Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afternoon-light.md) - [Playful Foosball Toy Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-table-football-moc.md) - [Building Block Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-table-football.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Luxury Transparent Game Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/effetto-71-ping-pong-table.md) - [Athlete-Led Furniture Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/si-vis-pacem.md) - [Statuesque Marble Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mawe-low-coffee-table.md) - [Playing Cards-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hito-table.md)
