# Sultry Steel Lighting Foldo Lamp Created by Thinkk is Functional and Aesthetically Sleek By Christopher DeLuca | Published 2011-07-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldo-lamp References: [thinkk-studio](http://thinkk-studio.com/foldo_lamp.html) & [thinkk-studio](http://thinkk-studio.com/projects.html) The Foldo lamp, design by [Thinkk Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stamping-chair), is a brilliant piece of contemporary design. The highly aesthetically-pleasing lamp consists of a piece of [folded steel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light) around the sides and with a wood base. As a result of using steel as a material magnets can be used to keep notes in place. What I particularly like about the Foldo lamp is the contrast between the steel and the wood base. Have a look at the gallery to see this fantastic lamp. **Implications** - Young consumers have a strong penchant for forward-looking design that does not resemble forms that they have seen before. This stems from an over-appropriation of of cultural symbols and a backward-looking stance. Companies should be innovative when it comes to their design to attract this cutting-edge demographic. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Contemporary Design:** Companies should explore innovative design to attract the cutting-edge demographic. - **Mixing Materials:** Incorporating different materials into design, such as steel and wood, can create aesthetically pleasing products like the Foldo lamp. - **Functional Aesthetic:** Creating household products that are both functional and visually appealing, such as the Foldo lamp, is a trend that resonates with modern consumers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** There is a growing demand for innovative and visually appealing pieces of furniture, like the Foldo lamp, that serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. - **Home Decor:** Companies in the home décor industry can capitalize on the trend of mixing materials and contemporary design to create new and unique products. - **Product Design:** Designers and companies creating products for modern consumers can benefit from creating functional and aesthetically pleasing designs, like the Foldo lamp, that stand out from the competition. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Productive Mood Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teixeira-design-studio.md) - [Illuminated Stainless Steel Clipboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-b.md) - [Folded Timber Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatpack-timber-lamp.md) - [Origami-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-lamp.md) - [Foldable Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp.md) - [Paper-Inspired Half-Folded Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/half-lamp.md) - [Stainless Steel Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-table-lamp.md) - [Elegant Metal Perforated Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foreshadow-table-lamp.md) - [Flatpack Minimalist Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-lamp.md)
