# Rorschach-Like Seating Alexander Gendell's Folditure Leaf Chair is Stylish and Space-Saving By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folditure-leaf-chair References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/folditure-leaf-chair-by-alexander-gendell/) & [folditure](http://www.folditure.com/index.htm) At first glance, the Folditure Leaf Chair may look like a Rorschach inkblot, especially when placed against a black backdrop. The seat has an intricate [mirrored aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflect-1) that will inspire people to see beyond the concrete design and imagine what else its shape could represent. While the Folditure Leaf Chair was not created to encourage such a psychological analysis, it was certainly created to encourage creativity in the home. Designed by architect Alexander Gendell, the Folditure Leaf Chair is not only gorgeous to look at, it is also extremely practical. It folds up neatly to conveniently free up space. A great alternative to [traditional folding chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair), it is comprised of a durable aluminum composite panel frame and [stainless steel hinges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair) and rivets with a fabric seat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mirrored Aesthetics:** Opportunity for creating furniture and products with intricate mirrored designs that encourage creative interpretations and inspire imagination. - **Space-saving Design:** Opportunity for developing innovative furniture solutions that fold up neatly to conveniently free up space, offering alternatives to traditional seating options. - **Durable and Lightweight Materials:** Opportunity for using durable and lightweight materials, such as aluminum composite panels and stainless steel, to create practical and stylish furniture with added functionality. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to explore mirrored aesthetics and space-saving designs to create innovative and visually appealing seating options for homes and public spaces. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate furniture with mirrored aesthetics and space-saving designs into their projects to create visually striking and functional living spaces. - **Manufacturing:** Opportunity for manufacturers to invest in durable and lightweight materials to produce versatile and space-saving furniture pieces for both residential and commercial markets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Singular Metal Sheet-Made Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-chair.md) - [Monomaterial Aluminum Folded Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldseat.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notch-folding-chair.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Industrial Flatpack Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tekron-folding-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Practical Folding Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair.md)
