# Flatpack Cyclist Safety Equipment The 'Folding Helmet' Concept Saves Space When Not in Use By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2022-01-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-helmet-concept References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2022/01/03/ingenious-folding-helmet-unfolds-at-the-pull-of-a-string-making-life-safer-for-bike-riders-everywhere/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ingenious-folding-helmet-unfolds-at-the-pull-of-a-string-making-life-safer-for-bike-riders-everywhere) & [rd-mak.co.jp](https://www.rd-mak.co.jp/top-folding-helmet) The 'Folding Helmet' concept has been designed by R&D Mak as an accessory for [cyclists](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/livall-ai-visual-smart-helmet) that will enable them to enjoy a [safer ride](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerobag-system) each day and also save precious [cargo space in their pack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanobag-daypack). The helmet maintains a minimalist design that will work effectively to help a rider stave off injury when going about their routine and is imagined in several color options to choose from. The helmet features a pull cord in the rear that can be activated to immediately open the accessory, while a button on the side can be pressed to compact it down for easy carrying in a bag or for safe storage in the home. The 'Folding Helmet' concept takes a decidedly modern approach to cyclist safety and would no doubt increase the likelihood that a rider would keep a helmet on hand. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 11% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Folding Safety Equipment:** There is a disruptive innovation opportunity to create more folding safety equipment options for various industries. - **Minimalist Design:** There is an opportunity to create minimalist-designed safety equipment for other industries such as construction and manufacturing. - **Multi-use Accessories:** There is an opportunity to create multi-use safety accessories for other industries besides cycling such as skateboarding and snowboarding. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Cycling:** There is an opportunity to create more innovative safety equipment for cyclists that save space when not in use. - **Construction:** There is an opportunity to create safety helmets for construction workers with a minimalist design and that are easily foldable for portability. - **Manufacturing:** There is an opportunity to create multi-use safety accessories for workers in the manufacturing industry that are both practical and space-saving. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Origami-Style Cyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raba-helmet.md) - [Inflatable Accordion-Style Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ventete-ah1.md) - [Collapsible Space-Saving Cyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipclip-go-helmet.md) - [Foldable Light-Integrated Bike Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fend-super-bike-helmet.md) - [Foldable Air Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ventete-ah1.md) - [Folding Smart Helmet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-helmets.md) - [Self-Inflating Bicycle Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bumpair-20.md) - [Featherlight Inflatable Bike Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflabi-bike-helmet.md) - [Helmet-Secured Bike Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/on-board-helmet.md)
