# Inspired Butterfly Buildings Claesson Koivisto Rune and the Folded Roof House in Sweden By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-03-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-roof-house References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/folded-roof-house-in-sweden-by-claesson-koivisto-rune/) & [claessonkoivistorune.se](http://www.claessonkoivistorune.se/) The Folded Roof House has a roof that takes its inspiration from the [wings of a butterfly](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maurpankhi). From the center, the roof slopes gently upward on either side. Inside the home, the raised and angled ceilings create a spacious and interesting interior. The Folded Roof House was designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune. It is located outside of Stockholm in a [heavily wooded area](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sadowski-house). The natural surroundings seem to have also been the inspiration for the interior decor. While modern, the decor uses splashes of green--like the trees--to add color. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Bio-inspired Architecture:** Incorporating natural designs into architecture and construction, resulting in unique and visually stunning structures - **Sustainable Homes:** Building homes that use natural materials and are designed to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly - **Adaptive Reuse:** Transforming existing buildings into sustainable and visually appealing living spaces ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Incorporating natural designs into architecture and construction to create unique and visually stunning structures - **Construction:** Building sustainable homes using natural materials and design to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly - **Real Estate:** Transforming existing buildings into sustainable and visually appealing living spaces, providing value while reducing waste ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Accessibly Designed Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dane-taylor-design.md) - [Contemporary Arctic Red Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simonsson-house.md) - [Cave-Like Folded Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-house.md) - [Leaf-Inspired Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaf-house-1.md) - [Futuristic Curved Islandic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2.md) - [Contemporary Nature-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebo-house.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Pyramidal Roof Steel-Framed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saltmarsh-house.md) - [Roof-Planed Cascading Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worrell-yeung.md)
