# Foldable Furniture Adam Goodrum Stitch Chairs By lourdes sanchez bayas | Published 2008-04-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-furniture-adam-goodrum-stitch-chairs References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2008/04/29/cappellini-in-milan/) Stitch chairs by Adam Goodrum were presented at the Milan furniture fair earlier this month. The stitch chair is made from 3mm [laser cut aluminum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stamping-chair) and when folded closes to 15mm. Rods are applied to create the hinges and assemble the chair. I like the [multi-color patchwork chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flap-chair) best but I would not feel comfortable sitting on these chairs. **Implications** - The recent construction of new homes and buildings includes condos and townhouses which alludes to smaller living spaces sacrificed for new and modern amenities. Since space is an issue, individuals are looking for the best way to match function and style in their home. Designers should focus on [fold-able furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) to match the needs of the city consumer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Foldable Furniture:** Foldable furniture is a trend driven by the need for multifunctional solutions in small living spaces. - **Space-saving Design:** Space-saving design is an emerging trend in the furniture industry that focuses on maximizing functionality in compact environments. - **Innovative Hinge Mechanisms:** Innovative hinge mechanisms offer opportunities for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry, enabling foldable furniture with enhanced durability and ease of use. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can capitalize on the trend of foldable furniture by offering innovative, space-saving designs that cater to small living spaces. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate foldable furniture into their designs, providing clients with stylish and functional solutions for limited space. - **Architecture:** Architects can integrate foldable furniture into their designs, optimizing space utilization and offering flexible living solutions in urban environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Minimalist Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notch-folding-chair.md) - [Monomaterial Aluminum Folded Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldseat.md) - [Practical Folding Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair.md) - [Industrial Flatpack Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tekron-folding-chair.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Singular Metal Sheet-Made Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-chair.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Dynamic Structural Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldont-chair.md) - [Stylish Stackable Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-chair.md)
